Photos are evidence
of memories.
And memories deserve to be captured beautifully and intentionally no matter when or where. You’re scrolling Instagram and all you see is photographers announcing they’re booked out and inviting people to their waitlists.. So you take another look at their feed, see what photos they’re posting and you get the feeling of wanting to do the same so you’ll get booked.
When I was a new photographer, for so long, I felt the urge to do what everybody else did because I thought that’s what had to be done in order to be successful.
When I was a new photographer, for so long, I felt the urge to do what everybody else did because I thought that’s what had to be done in order to be successful. I did the golden hour photo sessions during sunset to get the popular, glowy light to my photos. At the start, I loved it. It was like I was one of the good photographers now, doing the thing. I thought to myself: I'm on my way to success.
As time went by, I was getting more and more fixated on creating the perfect photos
As time went by, I was getting more and more fixated on creating the perfect photos that I almost forgot why I wanted to work as a photographer in the first place.
I wanted to be a photographer so that I could help people preserve their real-life memories for themselves, and for generations to come. That is why.
It made me realize life doesn't only happen at 7 pm when the sun is setting.
So I decided to be ready to photograph these happenings no matter when they occur. So I went outside in any weather and practiced photographing and editing to make my photos look consistent to my style. And it worked.
Different things happened: My style stood out from the noise and people started recognizing my photos, I started attracting dream clients loving my work, but most importantly: I finally felt more aligned because I wasn´t limiting myself to a specific time of the day to photograph, and I wasn't trying to fit in someone else´s box.
